Coordinate Graphing: Graph Data and Number Patterns from Tables

Today we worked on plotting ordered pairs found in a data table.  For example, the data table for the grid above, might look something like:

Hummingbirds
Hour
0
3
6
10
Number of Birds
2
5
3
8

The "hour" is the x-coordinate, the "number of birds" is the y-coordinate.  Together, these two coordinates make an ordered pair.

We also worked with tables that were missing pieces of data.  However, these were based on number patterns (multiply by 3, add 2, etc.) making the tables easy to complete.  Once the table was complete, the ordered pairs could be plotted on the coordinate plane, and we could make inferences from the graph.

After about 30 minutes, we went back to Design Your Own Town.  Today, we finished up the information in our Google Doc and posted the finished products to our Kidblog pages.
