SMART Goals

Bell Ringer:

Beginning today, I have decided to use a Kahoot each day to help review the concepts my students typically struggle with.

Lesson:

Today we began focusing on SMART goals.

I asked students to create a SMART goal both for Think Through Math and one for Khan Academy.  We have been focusing on Think Through Math since the beginning of school working towards passing 30 lessons.  This goal is set by Think Through Math itself.  They have statistics that show that students who pass 30 lessons or more on Think Through Math have a much higher success rate on the STAAR test.

At this point, we are going to also focus on Khan Academy.  Our school holds a banquet at the end of the year for students who pass 60 skills in their grade level.  In order to achieve this goal, I will be giving class time multiple times each week.

Once we wrote the goals, students completed today's Countdown to STAAR, and then worked on Think Through Math.

Students got onto Classroom and described what they worked on today on Think Through Math.
