Add and Subtract Fractions with Unlike Denominators: Rotation Day A

Bell Ringer:  Which One Doesn't Belong

Lesson Frame:
  • We will work on adding and subtracting proper fractions with unlike denominators in our rotation groups. (Crisscross Applesauce)
  • I will explain how you can use equivalent fractions to help you add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators.
Lesson:

I created both the BUMP game and I Have/Who Has myself.  Both required students to add and subtract proper fractions with unlike denominators.  Students used the crisscross applesauce method we learned yesterday.  They were also required to both simplify fractions as well as convert from improper fraction to mixed numbers.
